I am currently senior editor at UW Medicine, overseeing their health and wellness publication, called Right as Rain.
I am an experienced editor with strong editorial instincts and impeccable line editing skills. I’m also a scrupulous reporter and versatile writer, who can tackle anything from straight news to voicey essays to shortform items in editorial packages.
I spent seven years as an editor at Outside magazine in Santa Fe, New Mexico, before moving back to the Pacific Northwest, where I was born and raised.
I started my career as a magazine fact-checker and research editor, reverse-engineering stories to ensure accuracy and fairness, and to identify any legal risk, sourcing problems, or ethical issues. At Outside, I spent years as a senior editor, overseeing print and digital culture coverage. I edited everything from news reactions and Q&As with celebrities to longform feature stories and ASME-nominated special projects.
I’ve worked with many publications, including Harper’s, Mother Jones, WIRED, The Seattle Times, and the former California Sunday Magazine. My interests are wide-ranging, but include the outdoors, environmental issues, books, film, and mental health.
When I’m not at my desk, I enjoy hiking and skiing in the backcountry with my dog and fiancée, weeding my unruly yard, and trying to fix my golf swing.
